Developmental assessment procedure
In 2008 we reviewed our assessment system and changed the way we consider applications for accreditation. No longer just a summative ‘pass or fail’ method, the new developmental assessment process applies a positive assessment strategy.
This new strategy means that we consider all parts of an application very carefully when searching for evidence that the standard has been met. However, if we cannot find evidence to support every criterion, feedback and support will be offered on what still needs to be done to become accredited. A deferral period of six months is given in these circumstances, to give an applicant the opportunity to submit additional evidence for assessment.
From July 2008 all applicants will receive a developmental assessment of their application.
For more information on deferral, please select the 'Deferred Applicants' link on the left hand side of this page.
