Committing to competence

In a nutshell, the BACP Service Accreditation Scheme provides status and validation for the accredited service. Service Accreditation provides robust evidence of service quality and professionalism. Essentially, it demonstrates that the service is committing to competence.

Some of the most commonly cited benefits of becoming accredited include:

• Gives practitioners reassurance about the service they're working for
• Improves recruitment of practitioners and volunteers
• Recognition and enhanced credibility with clients and employers
• Added recognition among funders (leading to better funding)
• Helps acquire contracts

All BACP Accredited Services have demonstrated a high quality of service delivery, meeting benchmark standards that are maintained by annual assessment. In addition, Accredited Services are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

An organisation that has acheieved accredited status counselling/psychotherapy service will be awarded an accreditation certificate for display. It may also advertise that service as BACP Accredited on all its publicity material, including any related webpages on its website.
