Workshops and Surgeries
We know that putting together an application for accreditation can be a daunting process, but there really isn't a need to struggle on alone.
We run accreditation events all over the country, specifically to help people like you, who are working towards accreditation.
Workshops
It doesn't matter whether you are just starting to think about accreditation or are nearly ready to make an application - what we do know from feedback, is that these workshops really help to
- Understand the application process from start to finish
- Understand the paperwork
- Know which route to apply under
- Get ideas about how to address the reflective practice criteria
Our workshops for members applying for counsellor/psychotherapist accreditation are run by our own assessors which means you really are getting it from the 'horse's mouth'! We will provide you with the latest information and documentation about the accreditation process.
Workshops are a great opportunity to reflect on your own application and this is your opportunity to ask lots of questions. We also set up a 'buddy list' after each workshop - leave your e-mail address and we will send this round to all participants so you can keep in touch - ideal to stop you feeling quite so alone in the process.
Our workshops cost £60 for members or £45 for student members or those on a reduced membership fee.
If you aren't a BACP member, you can still come along but you will have to pay £65.
Surgeries
Accreditation surgeries are a 30 minute, 1-2-1 session with one of our accreditation assessors to discuss specific issues in relation to your application. We can't run as many of these as workshops but we do try to make them accessible throughout the year. We are also happy to put your name on a contact list in case we have enough member requests to put on additional events.
Surgeries are probably most helpful if you are quite well advanced with making your application but want to clarify a few key points, or perhaps discuss your approach to writing the reflective practice criteria.
You can attend a surgery if you are applying for counsellor/psychotherapist or supervisor accreditation. You can also attend a surgery if you have been deferred on an application. Please note that our assessors will not 'pre-assess' your work before you apply or resubmit.
Surgeries cost £25. There are no reduced fees for surgeries.
We are aware that some individuals and other organisations offer accreditation support. If you are thinking about attending one of these, you need to ask yourself the following questions;
- Can I be sure that the tutor has direct experience of the accreditation process?
- Can I be sure that the tutor is fully trained by BACP in the accreditation assessment process?
- Can I be sure that the tutor has the most up to date paperwork and information?
- Can I be sure that the tutor has the back-up of BACP and in particular the Professional Standards Department?
