Accredited Members: MBACP (Snr. Accred) Members within the Accredited Member Category MBACP (Accred) may apply to use the designatory letters MBACP (Snr. Accred) by demonstrating that they meet the following criteria: - Is currently accredited by BACP.
- Has been accredited under one or more of BACP’s accreditation schemes for at least six years.*
- Can demonstrate six years* of practice post accreditation in the area in which Accreditation is held.
- Has completed a minimum number of practice hours post first-time accreditation as follows:
Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapists† – a minimum of 1000 hours of supervised counselling/psychotherapy practice.
Accredited Supervisors – a minimum of 500 hours of counselling/psychotherapy supervision.
* These years do not have to be continuous. † Or Accredited Counsellors, if accredited before 1 April 2005
If you have met the above criteria in your area of accreditation and wish to apply to use the designatory letters MBACP (Snr. Accred), please send your completed application to Professional Standards at BACP. The form is available online (please contact the department if you would like a postal/email copy). You will not be entitled to use the designatory letters automatically after 6 years accreditation – you must make an application to Professional Standards at BACP. Use of the designatory letters MBACP (Snr. Accred) replaces the Senior Registered Practitioner category of membership as of 1 April 2005.
