| About Your Executive Team | |
Justine Oldfield-Rowell, ChairAIP Executive Team member since 1999 ‘I joined AIP some years before serving on the executive committee, because the Division s then title intrigued me, seemingly covering a number of interesting aspects from the world of counselling. My current special interests lie in the world of supervision and of learning more about working with DID clients. I work as an independent counsellor in private practice and also take referrals from some of the many EAPs.' Margaret Akmakjian-Pitz, Deputy Chair and Editor AIP Executive Team member since 1988 Susie Holden SmithAIP Executive Team member since 2003 ‘Since joining AIP executive committee I have been mainly involved as the Minutes Secretary, writing book reviews and public relations. This has given me the opportunity to keep up to date with what is happening at BACP and to enjoy meeting independent practitioners from all over the country at training days. The Committee get on well together both personally and professionally which helps to create interesting and stimulating training events for our members.' Tony Hutchinson, Finance Officer AIP Executive Team member since 1999 ‘Being able to make sense of figures and statistics means that I get concerned with detail, so good practice for counsellor and client are my interests as well as promoting AIP as the place for colleagues working in many different work settings as I do.' Julie Camfield, Divisional Administrator BACP employee since 2007 Wendy HalsallAIP Executive Team member 2008 I work in private practice in a rural environment and my main aim in working with my fellow executive members is in trying to lessen the isolation felt by many independent practitioners. I am also very keen to support counsellors who are trying to build up a practice as I recognise how difficult this can be. John CrewAIP Executive Team member since 2007 Bruce LetchfordAIP Executive Team member 2009 My aim in joining the executive team was to gain greater knowledge of how BACP works. As an independent practitioner I also value the networking opportunities available. I hope to contribute to raising AIP's status using the experience I have gained in the charitable sector and my work in South East London. Joe CallaghanAIP Executive Team member 2009 I joined the team in a time of renewal and as part of a drive to recruit new members onto the executive. The association was helpful when I was beginning to set up in private practice so I would like to play my part in helping others to do the same. I find the journal both informative and interesting. I hope to expand the membership of the division by exploring ways of making it more appealing to the wider membership of BACP, as I believe there is an important voice to be heard by independent practitioners during this time of the regulation of our profession. There are implications for the many non-cognitive behavioural independent therapists in the light of the Government's drive for access to psychological therapies. On a personal note I started working as a counsellor eight years ago, and currently run a counselling service within the NHS at a medical centre in South London. I have also had a private practice for the past four years. |
