Pauline Claire | Rosie Boycott

Pauline Clare

After 28 years police service, in 1995 Pauline Clare was appointed Chief Constable of the Lancashire Constabulary and was responsible for policing a resident population of some 1.4 million people.

Using a coaching style of leadership, Pauline’s main achievement during this time was to improve performance and change the culture of the organisation from a centrally-controlled traditional force to a devolved, empowered service. In addition to her many other achievements, in 1998 Pauline was presented with the Honorary Degree of Doctor of the Open University and in 2002 appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

Since retiring from the police service in 2002, Pauline has started a new career as an executive coach and is currently studying for a postgraduate diploma in executive coaching.

Rosie Boycott

Rosie was a founder of Spare Rib magazine and Virago press, and was the first woman to edit a broadsheet and daily newspaper. She has edited Esquire, the Independent on Sunday, the Independent and the Daily and Sunday Express. She has also contributed to, and edited, newspapers and magazines in Kuwait, Hong Kong and the USA.

Her books include Batty Bloomers and Boycott, A Nice Girl Like Me (her autobiography) and All For Love, a novel.

A regular co-host on radio and TV, Rosie appears on BBC Radio 4’s Start the Week, Question Time, Any Questions, The Late Review and various other talk shows and programmes. Rosie makes regular appearances on news programmes and current affairs. She was the subject of a one-off documentary on her editorship of the Independent.

Rosie is a member of and media advisor for the Council of Europe, a director of the Hay on Wye Literary Festival and is also involved with Warchild and StreetSmart. Rosie presented a major new series on the BBC – Life Etc – in March 2002. The series addressed morals, faith and ethics. She also presented the film on Diana, Princess of Wales for the BBC’s Great Britons series.

Peter Sharp

Peter Sharp joined Mouchel in January 2002 as Principal Consultant. Previously he was Principal Educational Psychologist with Southampton City Council where he led and managed a team of 35 people and was responsible for city wide initiatives on emotional literacy and inclusion.

Peter also acted as a consultant, trainer and adviser to more than 40 LEAs across England and Scotland, and for schools in Germany and Cyprus. In addition he has been a consultant with managers in business, including work on executive emotional coaching for a board of directors, leading to an emotional intelligence strategy for the company.

Peter has also acted as a Best Value Consultant and reviewed whole LEA children’s services, as well as authority-wide SEN and inclusion reviews.

Peter’s work on emotional literacy and inclusion has earned him national and international recognition, and he has published several books and articles in recent years that have all been reprinted and are still available. He has also been a governor in two schools and continues to take an active part in education in his local community.

Peter is on the Management Committee of Antidote – the campaign for promoting emotional literacy, and was the founder of the National Emotional Literacy Interest Group.

Andrew Samuels

An acknowledged innovator in the fields of psychotherapy and psychology, Andrew Samuels has also worked as a consultant to politicians, political organisations, and activist groups in the US, Britain, Europe, Brazil, Israel, Japan, Russia and South Africa.

Internationally known as an inspiring speaker, Samuels is Professor of Analytical Psychology at the University of Essex and Professor of Psychoanalytical Studies at London University, as well as a psychotherapist in private practice.

His previous books, some of which have been translated into nineteen languages, include Politics on the Couch: Citizenship and the Internal Life, The Political Psyche, The Plural Psyche and The Father.

He is consulting Editor on a new publication entitled Pychotherapy and Politics International, which explores the maifold connections and interactions between politics and psychotherapy. Guidelines for authors and further details are available at www.whurr.co.uk
