Your conference your profession

BACP Annual Conference & AGM 2009

9 - 10 October 2009, Newcastle Civic Centre

In an ever-changing climate the counselling and psychotherapy profession must continually adapt and develop to fit the world around it, creating a new set of challenges for those working in the field. It is for this reason that BACP's 2009 Annual Conference will follow the format of the successful 2008 event, by examining a range of pertinent topics across the profession rather than focusing on a specific theme.

The profile of the profession is becoming increasingly high in the minds of politicians and policy makers as we move towards regulation and through the Government's Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme. The conference will therefore provide updates on these and other issues, whilst also looking at how they might impact on your professional practice. It will give you the opportunity to develop your professional toolbox, learn about developments in your sector and keep abreast of the legal and ethical issues which may affect your work. The aim is to provide a thought-provoking and informative event which will allow delegates to increase their personal and professional development.

In addition to the main conference, there will be an exhibition area and plenty of opportunities to meet with colleagues, old and new. The Association's AGM will take place on Friday followed by a networking evening incorporating the Counselling & Psychotherapy awards and Fellowship presentations. As well as another valuable networking opportunity this is a time to celebrate some of the fabulous work in the counselling and psychotherapy arena (this evening is free of charge to conference delegates).

Do join us for what promises to be a stimulating and thought-provoking event. We look forward to welcoming you in October.
