A workshop with Anca Carrington
On Sunday 23 April 2017
Registration & coffee: 9:45am; workshop 10.00am – 11:30am
Money is one of the most difficult dynamics in the therapeutic relationship. Not just because our clients and patients may struggle with it, but because as practitioners we bring our own money dynamic to the relationship. This lecture will help us to understand more about our own relationship with money, as well as our clients.
This lecture will develop a new way of looking at the meaning of money with an interest in how psychoanalysis can illuminate an understanding of our relationship to it, and tell us something about the place that money has in everyday life.
Anca Carrington is a psychotherapist who trained at the Tavistock Centre in London, after a career as an economist, both in academia and the civil service. After several years of working in the NHS, first at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, and then at the South London and the Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, she is now a psychotherapist in full-time private practice. She is the author of the book, ‘Money as Emotional Currency’.
