Essential Law for Counsellors and Psychotherapists
Tim Bond and Barbara Mitchels have been listening to the needs of therapists during their workshops around the country, and realised that, although confidentiality is a great concern for practitioners, another major area of concern, and sometimes confusion, is the impact of many other areas of law on therapy practice.
No matter what our field of therapy might be, we meet with legal issues all the time. We all want to get the best deal from our insurers. We all have to work within the law and so many statutes and regulations now apply to our work in the therapy room, and outside it. Did you know that therapy is regarded as a business? We have to abide by the law in our day to day conduct of the therapy business, e.g. trade descriptions in advertising, contracting for goods and services, getting a good deal when we rent or buy premises from which to work, knowing what our rights and responsibilities are as employees or employers, but often we have no idea what the relevant law is, or how to find it!
Tim Bond and Barbara Mitchels will present four one day workshops based on the third book in the BACP Legal Resources for Counsellors and Psychotherapists series
