BACP heads 6 specialist ’divisions’ open to members to join The divisions are expert occupational groups. They run their own meetings and formulate strategies in line with BACP objectives and are generally overseen by the BACP Board of Governors who monitor their activities. Each Division produces a quarterly Newsletter free to their members or under subscription to other BACP membership or members of the public. Divisional membership is of value to anyone working within specific fields of counselling work, either as in-house counsellors or if self employed working within specialist areas. Faculty of Healthcare Counsellors and Psychotherapists (FHCP) This provides a forum for those involved in counselling in GP Surgeries, hospitals and other healthcare settings. FHCP continues on from the work of the previous BACP Division Counselling in Medical Settings (CMS) but with a wider remit. Association for Counselling at Work (ACW) This promotes and supports the professional practice of counselling and counselling skills in the workplace. It is of value to anyone working within this field Association for Independent Practitioners (AIP) This represents the interests of counsellors and those using counselling skills who either work independently or in agency settings. Association for University and College Counselling (AUCC) This promotes student and staff counselling as an integral part of the educational process of Institutions of Further and Higher Education. Association for Pastoral and Spiritual Care and Counselling (APSCC) The aim is to improve the quality of pastoral care and counselling, lay and ordained, voluntary and paid: e.g. clergy and ministers, social workers, doctors, therapists, nurses, Christians, Jews, other religions and non-committed, and to raise standards in the teaching and exercise of pastoral care and counselling. Counselling Children and Young People (CCYP) This division aims to support practitioners and other professional who are interested in the complex world of counselling children and young people. Covering best practice guidance, innovative ideas, ethical and effective counselling of all children and young people. If young people are your clients we are your division!
