This review is the third in a series of systematic scoping review to be published by BACP. The review aims to provide a comprehensive review and assessment of the research evidence on counselling children and young people up to and including the age of 19, with the main focus being on outcome studies. This report examines the effects of counselling children and adolescents and assesses the specific contribution counselling makes to the psychological, social and emotional wellbeing of children and young people. In addition, it highlights the key challenges in carrying out research with young people.
