15th Annual BACP Research Conference15 - 16 May 2009 (tbc) , Marriott Hotel, Portsmouth (tbc) In association with The University of Portsmouth"Research Relationships"The theme for the 2009 research conference is ‘Research Relationships' with an emphasis on the relation between the researcher and the researched, the researcher and the practitioner, and collaborative research relationships between individuals, organisations and countries. The relationship between research and policy will also be examined. Call for papers is underway and details of keynote speakers and programme timing will be posted at a later date. Pre Conference Workshop (Thursday evening): We are pleased to offer another pre-conference workshop this year. More detail will follow shortly. Who will be there? Built on a reputation for excellence, this two-day conference has much to offer those working in the counselling and psychotherapy world, including researchers, students, trainers, providers and practitioners. Conference Structure It is anticipated that four strands will run simultaneously on each day with papers and workshops running throughout the day. Presentations are placed in strands, grouped to form coherent themes which run throughout the event giving you a wide choice from a varied programme. Posters will be presented separately; posters are displayed throughout the event and poster presenters have one minute in which to address the whole conference in order to attract interest to their research and visitors to their poster. An abstract booklet is available well in advance so delegates can plan their conference attendance. Free movement between strands is encouraged and booking for particular sessions in advance is not necessary, although sessions should not be interrupted once they are underway. Papers last for 30 minutes, workshops are for 60 minutes and brief communication presentations are for 15 minutes, and each presentation allows for Q&A and feedback session. Submission of abstracts We invite abstract submissions for papers, workshops, brief communication presentations and posters on any aspect of counselling and psychotherapy research. All abstracts will be peer reviewed; the criteria reviewers use will be supplied with the forms. All abstracts must be submitted via email following the given format. This year, abstracts on theory may be submitted although opinion pieces will not be included. Submissions from all methodological perspectives are welcomed. All abstracts from presentations at the conference will appear on the BACP website. Deadline for submissions is 14 November 2008 |
