I refer to the work of scientists, Jung and post-Jungians, and suggest that each theory, rather than contradictory, adds to the claims of the other.  I then look at early mind-brain development in the infant, placing both the overlapping non-physical archetypal aspect and the physical scientific aspect – each emerging from the mother-infant dyad - in the context of systems theory. This finally leads to the examination of the psyche-soma interface, which, drawing on the work of Ramos, I contend is managed by Jung’s subtle body, and is paramount to the transmission of the archetypes. It is through this interface that physical healing may accompany psychical healing, particularly when working with the complex via its symbolic manifestation as a symptom in the psychotherapeutic context.
