Registration of Independent Counsellors (UKRCP)

United Kingdom Register of Counsellors / Psychotherapists (UKRCP)

The UKRCP is a voluntary register of Counsellors / Psychotherapists held by BACP.  A condition of registration is accreditation with either BACP, COSCA, UKAHPP or FDAP.

In the past accredited members of the above organisations could opt to join the UKRCP register for a fee and gained certain benefits from that, like a listing on the UKRCP website and discounted advertising with Yellow Pages.

BACP is now wishing to encourage all its accredited members onto this voluntary register as a free benefit in preparation for statutory regulation and the opening of the Health Professions Council Statutory Register.  Thus as a matter of course all accredited members are now automatically registered with UKRCP at no cost (with an opt out clause for those who do not wish to be registered).  Continued registration is dependent upon the maintenance of both membership and accreditation

All UKRCP Registrants:

  • Will receive a certificate of registration
  • May advertise themselves as a UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor / Psychotherapist
  • *May have their details included on the UKRCP website
  • *May request an entry (at lineage rates) in Yellow Pages under the UKRCP Logo.

(*3 and *4 above are optional)

The application process to join UKRCP for Accredited members of COSCA, UKAHPP and FDAP remains the same.

For further details about the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors / Psychotherapists please contact the Professional Standards Department at BACP. Diane Blunden is the first point of contact on 01455 883335 or diane.blunden@bacp.co.uk.
