Jamie reflects on the benefits of clear contracting, and responsibilities regarding note taking and confidentiality.
He argues that although we can work collaboratively with clients to offer support in times of crisis, he offers a chance to explore and reflect on the impact of losing a client by suicide and the importance of seeking appropriate support while embracing the need for effective self-care.
Although a newly qualified counsellor registered with BACP, Jamie has gained significant experience in supporting clients presenting with suicidal ideation, behaviours, and in crisis while on placement and post qualification. He is also a lecturer in counselling and supports student mental health as an associate counsellor for Glasgow Clyde College and is currently developing a professional development award in working with children and young people for SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority)
