CBT therapists’ perspectives on the potential need for cultural adaptations of CBT models when working with clients of black ethnic background

Hello! My name is Aliyyah and I am a third year counselling student at the University of East London. I am in the process of recruiting participants for my dissertation. I have ethical approval from my university to go ahead with my study.

My dissertation is about CBT therapists’ perspectives on the potential need for cultural adaptations of CBT models when working with clients of black ethnic background.

I am looking for participants who are a qualified CBT therapist or an integrative therapist who incorporates CBT in their work. Has a minimum of 3 years' experience post-qualification, and has worked with black clients either in a counselling service or private practice.

The purpose of this study is to seek understanding towards how CBT or CBT informed therapists who use CBT models within their integrative framework perceive the cultural suitability and interplay with therapeutic relationship dynamics when working with clients who are of a black ethnic background.

Participants will be required to take part in an interview up to 50 minutes which will be conducted at a convenient time online using MS Teams.

If you wish to participate or if you have any further questions before deciding to participate, please do not hesitate to email me at u1966296@uel.ac.uk. Thank you very much.
