Participants needed for research on psychotherapy trainees who moved their practice online during and after the pandemic.

My name is Ana Paula Nacif and I'm an MSc Psychology student at the University of East London. I'm looking for trainee psychotherapists to take pat in my research project – Paradigm shift: The experience of psychotherapy trainees who moved their practice online during and after the pandemic.

Background

During the COVID-19 pandemic, psychotherapy trainees experiences profound changes in their training practice. Psychotherapy has traditionally been delivered face to face but, due to restrictions imposed during the pandemic, flexible arrangements were made. The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) introduced flexibilities for training providers to deliver training remotely via synchronous online video platforms. It also allowed trainees to practice online or by phone providing they were assessed as competent to work in this way and had appropriate supervision.

Study aim

This qualitative study seeks to explore the experience of psychotherapy trainees who started their training and practice in the traditional face-to-face format but had to transition to online during the pandemic.

Who is eligible?

Psychotherapy trainees based in the UK who were seeing clients face-to-face before the pandemic and had to move to online sessions during/after the pandemic.

What will I be asked to do?

Participants will be asked to take part in an online interview lasting approximately one hour, about their experience of moving their practice online. Confidentiality will be maintained throughout the study.

How do I volunteer?

If you would like to take part in this study or if you would like some more information, please contact me at anapnacif@uel.ac.uk (07951024999).

Thank you – your help is much appreciated.
