Are you a qualified and practicing counsellor or psychotherapist with a BACP (or equivalent) membership?
Do you consider yourself to experience the imposter phenomenon (AKA imposter syndrome)?

If so, I would love to hear from you!

My name is Cat Mahon, I am an MSc student at Staffordshire University, and I am currently recruiting participants to engage in a research study for my dissertation.
I am conducting a study exploring how counsellors who experience the imposter phenomenon make sense of their ability to be authentic and effective in their work. Participating in this study will involve discussing your experiences of imposterism by engaging in a semi-structured interview via Zoom. I am interested in hearing from qualified counsellors and psychotherapists of any gender, race, age (over 18), sexuality, socio-economic background, or theoretical orientation.

To participate in this study, you must:

  • Be aged 18 or over.
  • Be a qualified and practicing counsellor/psychotherapist with a BACP (or equivalent) membership, engaging in regular supervision.
  • Have self-identified that you experience the imposter phenomenon.
  • Have access to Zoom.
  • Have access to a private space where you would feel safe and comfortable to engage in a semi-structured interview.

Thank you for your time in considering this study. If you are interested in becoming a participant or would like further details, please contact me by email.
