I am currently studying an MSc in Counselling at The University of Northampton. Having worked in substance use for many years, seeing numbers of clients who have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences, I am interested in the way that inner child therapy could be used to address this.

I am conducting a qualitative study exploring qualified therapists/counsellors’ experiences of using Inner Child Therapy with substance using clients and am looking for participants.

Participants should meet the following requirements:

  • Be a qualified therapist or counsellor with experience of using inner child therapy with clients that are using drugs/alcohol
  • Registered member of the BACP or UKCP
  • Willing to take part in no longer than a 1 hour long semi-structured online interview.

If you would like to participate or would like further information, please contact me at claire.iweka19@mynorthampton.ac.uk

Ethical approval for this research has been granted from the Psychology Ethics Committee at the University of Northampton.
