My aim is to explore the lived experiences of individuals who experience a range of unusual and unwanted events or experiences whilst falling asleep, sleeping or waking up. Such experiences - known within the medical profession as Parasomnias - can include sleepwalking, abnormal movements, behaviours, intense emotions, perceptions or acting out dreams.
I am conducting this Research as part of my Integrative psychotherapy Masters degree at Birmingham City University. This project has been approved by the Birmingham City Ethics Committee.
I am seeking qualified counsellors/psychotherapists, who are over the age of 25, and who have experienced undesirable and unusual sleep related behaviours.
This study will involve a 1:1 semi structured interview, that will last approximately an hour. I would like to explore your lived experience of these sleep events; how they impact you and your relationships and your experience of exploring this phenomena within your personal therapy (as a client) and/or within your client work.
Interviews will be recorded, transcribed and analysed using an Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis.
If you fit the criteria and would be interested in sharing your experience with me please contact me on the email below for further information: Eloise.Jenkins@mail.bcu.ac.uk
Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you!
