For my MA research project, I am interested in exploring the lived experiences of Person-centred Bereavement Counsellors, who have worked within the profession prior to experiencing a personal bereavement of a significant other and have returned to work as a bereavement counsellor post bereavement. I am interested in exploring how this experience impacts their therapeutic practice.

I will conduct a qualitative research project, using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) and require Person-centred Bereavement Counsellors to take part (A more in-depth inclusion criteria is available).

Research in this area is extremely limited, and non-existent in regard to exploring pre and post personal bereavement of a significant other and its impact on practice.

  • Participants are required to attend a 90-minute (Approx) semi-structured interview (which includes a 20 minute debrief). Due to the current circumstances, these interviews are likely to take place over Skype (Although face to face would have been preferred).
  • Participant anonymity will be maintained and throughout the project and keeping the well-being of the participant at the forefront of my responsibilities.
  • I will adhere to the BACP ethical guidelines for research in the counselling professions.

If you are interested or have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via email: 1623474@chester.ac.uk.

Thank you
