This research asks to what extent use is affecting the therapeutic relationship.  Whilst this subject has been identified as a risk, there is little data to indicate to what extent it is an issue.

All practising counsellors (including trainees) in the UK are asked to complete a short online survey (5-10 minutes).  Click here: https://tinyurl.com/yc4zgd8g  Survey password: socialmedia

Regardless of whether you use it or not, it is a topic that connects with contracting, boundaries, and inter-sessional contact.

Personal social media includes platforms such as FaceBook, Instagram, internet dating, Pinterest, Snapchat, Twitter and WhatsApp.

The research is being undertaken by a University of Leicester student, jah100@student.le.ac.uk under the supervision of Dr Diana Pinto and Prof. Sue Wheeler.

Findings may be used to inform recommendations for a review or update of UK ethical guidelines for counselling practitioners.

Thank you
