I am seeking counsellors, therapists and, in general, mental health practitioners across the UK with a relevant experience in pre-trial therapy (PTT) with young victims and witnesses (intra- or extra familiar abuse cases) and who are willing to speak about their experiences as therapists involved in those cases.
I am a Masters student at the University of Northampton in Counselling Children and Young People. As part of my studies, I am carrying out a research project which aims at exploring how the legal framework of the PTT has an impact upon the therapists and the child through the counsellors' or therapists’ views and perspectives.
The underdeveloped research and a lack of empirical studies on that topic have led me to delve into this chaotic field and extend my curiosity to other contexts hoping to shape a common ground where diverse opinions and viewpoints can be heard.
The therapists who will voluntarily agree to participate will be engaged in an hour-long face to face semi-structured recorded interview. The interview will be held at a place and time mutually agreed by the researcher and the participant.
The study has received ethical approval from the University of Northampton Faculty of Health and Society Research Ethics Committee.
