Exploring newly qualified therapists experience of working with shame and building resilience within their private practise
Hello, my name is Lowri, I am a MA student at the University of South Wales studying Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am researching newly qualified therapists experience of working with shame and building resilience within their private practise.
I am looking for:
- A qualified therapist registered with a UK counselling and Psychotherapy professional body.
- To have qualified as a therapist in the last two years.
- Currently working in private practice with clients within the UK
- Currently undertaking regular clinical supervision, as is required by professional bodies
- Have a willingness to engage with self-care strategies, should any feelings of shame arise during or after the interview.
What will it involve?
- Should you choose to take part in the research, we will book in a time that works for you. Semi-structured interviews will take place over Microsoft Teams and will last around 60 minutes.
- During the interview we will explore where might feelings of shame come up within your therapeutic practice, and what might be we be able learn from these feelings. We will also explore how resilient strategies might be built when working with shame.
- The interview will be recorded, and your identity and responses will be kept strictly confidential and safe.
Why Participate?
This research is interested in exploring where might shame emerge within private practise. Specifically looking at newly qualified therapists, as it seeks to explore what tools or information might be helpful to build their resilience in the early stages of their career.
