As part of a Master’s in Counselling research study I am looking for volunteer experienced counsellors/psychotherapists. The participants will have clients who speak English as a second language.

The aim of my research is to understand how counsellors who work with this client group have experienced the transition to online counselling. The focus is on the therapeutic relationship and communication changes when working with clients who have English as a second language.

The process of empathic communication and understanding is a valuable part of the therapeutic process and building of the therapeutic alliance. It will explore the therapists experience in depth and aim to discover any losses or gains within the psychotherapy process. In addition, the research aims to identify specific issues relevant to the needs of these clients.

The study will fully comply with care and confidentiality requirements of BACP and meets the University of Northampton’s standards of ethical research. The semi structured interviews will be online via Zoom and last approximately an hour. They will be recorded. The interviews will be at your convenience. All information will be anonymised and confidential.

If you would like to participate or find out more, please contact me on my email below.
I look forward to working with you.
