I am a second year MSc Counselling student researching the experience of counsellors and psychotherapists working in a profession that requires continuing reflection on their choice to be a therapist, how initial motivations can change over time and the impact it has on their relationship to their therapeutic practice.

I am inviting counsellors and psychotherapists to participate in this research by taking part in an interview exploring what brought them into the profession and how their relationship to the work has changed during their career so far.

Participants should meet the following requirements:

  • Accredited therapist
  • Currently in practice
  • Registered member of either the BACP or UKCP
  • Able to take part in an online interview at a time convenient to you lasting approximately 60 minutes.

If this is something you would like to be involved in or you would like further information, please contact me at samantha.hall19@my.northampton.ac.uk; I look forward to hearing from you.
Ethical approval for this research has been granted from the Psychology Ethics Committee at the University of Northampton.

Research Supervisor: Louise Spiers, louise.spiers@northamptona.ac.uk, Division of Psychology, Faculty of Health, Education, and Society, University of Northampton, Waterside Campus, Learning Hub, room 301, Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN1 5PA.

Thank you

Samantha.
