As therapists, there is rarely a ‘one size fits all’ approach, whether that is theoretical style or how we communicate with each other.
How do we communicate when conventional methods aren’t appropriate? When for example, disability is present – for example loss of sight or hearing?; across generations i.e. when working with young people vs the older generation; or how present are our own prejudices and do they form an opinion; what about hidden communication – where we live, our political views and lastly when we need to work with neurodiversity.
These are questions we would like to explore in our next BACP Private Practice Conference.
