For Mental Health Awareness Week 2017 (8-14 May), the Mental Health Foundation commissioned a survey to find out whether the UK is surviving or thriving.

The conclusions are disturbing, showing that current levels of mental health are low and are deteriorating.

Key findings include:

  • only 13% of people report living with high levels of good mental health
  • more than 4 in 10 say they have experienced depression
  • nearly two-thirds of people say they have experienced a mental health problem

The report suggests 10 ways you can look after your mental health, including talking about your feelings, asking for help and accepting who you are.
