The Private practice toolkit was originally developed in partnership with the Private Practice division in Spring 2020 and has proven to be popular with our members.

The new resources are aimed specifically at supporting private practice members to set up and maintain a thriving practice. They’re designed to combine business skills with ethical and therapeutic practice and will cover topics including the transition from student to private practice, understanding tax in the 21st century, GDPR and growing your practice.

We’re continually adding a wide variety of new content to the toolkit from our journals, blogs and Good Practice in Action (GPiA) resources. One of the latest additions is our recently launched social media guidance, which was developed in conjunction with the Private Practice division. The policy covers useful themes including your profile and privacy, the impact your words may have in the digital world and advice on how to deal with negative situations.

Over the coming months we’ll be developing 11 brand new resources, created specifically for our toolkit and members working in private practice:

  • Student to private practice
  • Understanding tax in the 21st century
  • Growing your practice through blogs
  • The buck stops with you
  • Location and place of work
  • Negotiation of the business with ethical, therapeutic practice
  • Growing your practice – the uniqueness of you
  • GDPR in brief
  • Private practice checklist
  • GPiA guide to contracting
  • Contracting template
