"My name is Elaine and I am a professionally qualified Person Centred and CBT counsellor and psychotherapist, with 7 years experience in practice.
I use an integrative approach to support my clients unique needs, which means I will work collaboratively with you, using approaches to explore your concerns, and help you to gain an understanding of them, and encouraging you to manage them, maybe using strategies/techniques for you to achieve the best outcome for yourself".
I have practised in several organisations in Merseyside and Cheshire, supporting clients with addictions, bereavement and various mental health concerns.
I have a specialism and a real passion for supporting clients with concerns regards to anxiety, past or present abuse, bereavement and PTS. (post traumatic stress/disorder)
I am passionate about my own learning, and I continue this with ongoing and up to date professional training, and I also have regular and ongoing supervision to support myself and my clients.
I am a registered and qualified member of the B.A.C.P. (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) and adhere to their strict ethical guideline demands at all times.
I hold insurance to practice in organisations and private practice. I have full DBS in place.
My first session
As I offer an initial 20 minute chat before starting our sessions, you will be already informed of a working agreement, which is basically a contract we both agree to, this keeps us both safe whilst working together. We can review this and make sure you are happy with it before we begin.
I will offer you a short questionnaire to get an idea of how you have been feeling in the last few weeks, this can be a useful way to measure your mood. This questionnaire is optional for you, the choice is yours.
You may find it useful to write a few things down which you would like to discuss before starting our first session, like, reasons/concerns you are seeking therapy, especially if this is your first experience of counselling. Again this is your choice.
I will also tell you a little about me and how I work, and what I can offer you, and you are free to ask me anything that you don't understand, or are unsure of.
I want you to feel at ease, so, when you you feel comfortable we will discuss what has brought you to counselling, and concerns you wish to work on.
