About me and my therapy practice

About Me

I hold a Masters in Psychodynamic Counselling, BSc in Psychology, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education with Qualified Teacher Status. Along with a range of NVQ's in Early years education and child care.

I have over twenty years of experience supporting children and parents and staff with educational, behavioural and mental health needs.

I am currently working face to face on both an open-ended and time-limited basis.

I am registered with the BACP and fully insured.

Work Experience

  • I am currently employed in the Education sector as a School Psychodynamic Counsellor where I work 1:1 with young people and staff.
  • I hold a voluntary position for a local Hospice as a child and adolescent (5- 24 year) Bereavement Counsellor.
  • Run a private practice for children, adolescents and adults.

Benefits of Counselling

Life is not always easy or straightforward, our lives can become difficult and challenging at times, causing us to feel overwhelmed with an array of complex emotions which can have an impact on our daily lives.

Very often we don’t have someone that we can completely share our innermost thoughts and emotions with so having someone who is a trained professional, not connected with their life allows the opportunity to open up and confide in.

Dedicating time to yourself to address issues that affect your life is beneficial, as it will give you the time and space you need to work things out.

I trust that I am able to provide a safe, non-judgemental space to work collaboratively with you and to explore ways to help you move forward.

As a psychodynamic counsellor, my aim is to assist people in understanding how past experiences and current behaviour may be connected, which will improve psychological well-being and aid a journey of personal growth.

Practice description

I offer individual, once weekly counselling, with each session lasting 50 minutes. I provide a safe and confidential space for those looking for both long and short-term (up to 20 weeks) counselling.

My private practice is based in Chelmsford within close proximity to town and the station.

Pay and display parking is available nearby.

My first session

Initially, it is advisable to have a 15-minute phone consultation to orient ourselves on how and why we would want to work together and to answer any questions you might have. Phone consultations are free of charge.

If we decide to further our work, I would invite you for an assessment, where we could establish your therapy goals and get to know each other better. This is also an opportunity to organise our meetings for regular counselling sessions, discuss fees and other, concerning details.
