About me and my therapy practice

The client’s needs are at the heart of the therapy I provide. Sometimes the pressures of life builds, and it can feel overwhelming. I offer a safe environment where we can explore your inner and outer world and work towards your goals for therapy. My aim is to build a strong therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable and empowered to grow in the direction you want. I work in an integrative and collaborative way, drawing on differing therapeutic disciplines depending on your individual needs.

I am an integrative therapist with a person-centered base. This means I believe we are each our own best resource for change. I aim to work with you to build that resource in a supportive, compassionate, and encouraging manner.

COVID-19

I offer face-to-face therapy from my comfortable office in Edgerton, Huddersfield. My office is large enough to allow social distancing and is cleaned regularly.

I am also working both online (WhatsApp and Zoom) and over the telephone for clients that prefer. I have worked over the telephone and online for much of the pandemic and have found that some clients can feel more comfortable with therapy done in this way.

My room is easy to reach from Huddersfield town centre or the M62 and has free off-street parking.

Practice description

I specialize in working with adults 18+ offering both long- and short-term therapy. I utilize my extensive 6-year training which has included CBT, Person-Centred and Psychodynamic principles. I work sensitively with adults who have experienced trauma and hardship in their childhood and growing up. Often these experiences require a gentle and sensitive approach so that clients can explore what is going on for them in the here and now.

Many individuals often suffer from the overwhelming effects of anxiety and depression. I use my experience of working with clients from all walks of life, and research-based strategies to help my clients gain an understanding of why they feel the way they do.

I hold a Psychology and Counselling Bsc (Hons) degree and a Psychotherapy and Counselling MA degree. I am a registered member of the BACP and a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). I also have an enhanced DBS certificate.

My first session

My sessions are 50minutes and I also offer an initial meeting of 25minutes. This initial meeting allows us to get a sense of whether I am the right therapist for you, then after this initial meeting, we can discuss if we will continue to work together.
