About me and my therapy practice

Counselling by telephone, zoom and face to face.

Hello and thank you for taking a look at my profile. To give you an idea if you would like to start working with me, I need to tell you a bit about my training and how we might work together. It can feel quite daunting finding the right therapist and therapy at a time when things are a little overwhelming. Be it relationships, work life, past issues, I am here to help you. By looking at my training and experience it may make life a bit easier in choosing what you need.

I started my training in 2003 and qualified as a Psychodynamic Counsellor in 2008. I am qualified as a relationship counsellor. I gained my accreditation in 2011. I am trained in short term systemic focused counselling and open ended psychodynamic counselling. I have a certificate in Child Psychology and Motivational Interviewing Technique. I am fully insured.  If you believe that the issues you have now are related to your past, then this may be the kind of counselling that will suit you. Together we can explore and locate where the issue has come from.  We cannot change the past but we can gain an understanding and it is then that we can find a way forward. Every one is unique and so is their issue. If you would like to have an informal chat to see if we could work together, give me a call.

Practice description

My consulting room is in my home, which is upstairs. I do not have disabled access. It is private and we will not be interrupted. There is a lavatory for your use. Feel welcome to bring your own refreshments. I live near a village where there are places to park your car. There is also a bus stop outside my house.

My first session

In our initial assessment session, i will be taking some relevant history and we will explore your reasons for coming and our expectations. You can ask me any questions that are relevant to your counselling. If you feel comfortable enough to work together we can then decide on a time and day for our first session. However,  If you feel you would like to have a think and contact me through email or phone at a later date, that would be fine. Its important to make sure you are happy with your decision. If we do start working  together,  I will give you your contract and confidentiality agreement.

When we start sessions, I will expect your phone to be turned off during all sessions. However, if you need to leave your phone on due to an emergency that would be fine.  Our sessions would start on the hour and last for 50 minutes. We would have the same time and day every week.

Couple counselling would be a similar process. However our sessions would last an hour.
