About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative therapist, offering coaching, counselling and psychotherapy to adult clients in Oxfordshire. I work with individual clients and couples, and welcome clients from all backgrounds, regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
I aim to provide a professional and comfortable environment where you will feel welcome, where you can talk about your thoughts and feelings in confidence, achieve deeper insight into yourself, your problems and your life, and where you can identify and work towards making positive changes that will enhance your overall sense of wellbeing.
As an integrative therapist I use a combination of different types of therapy, tailored to suit the unique needs and preferences of each individual client. Rather than focusing solely on mental or emotional health I adopt a holistic approach, recognizing that the psychological, physical, spiritual, social and environmental aspects of life are interconnected, and that problems in one area of life can affect all the others.
I hold an MSc degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and am a Registered Member of the BACP, a member of the National Council of Psychotherapists and a member of the International Coach Federation. I am also a qualified clinical supervisor.
In addition to my private practice, I work as the Counselling Service Manager for TalkingSpace Plus, the NHS’ IAPT service in Oxfordshire. I have previously worked with organizations in the public and voluntary sectors, including the NHS, Mind, Relate and the Dove Service.
Before training as a therapist, I worked in management roles for over 25 years, gaining extensive experience in business management, finance, team leadership, coaching, mentoring, and designing and delivering training programmes. I have lived and worked in the UK, Asia and Australia, and am comfortable working with people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds.
My first session
I offer a 30-minute initial consultation - with no obligation and completely free of charge - which gives us the opportunity to meet each other and decide if we can work together.
At the initial consultation I will explain how I work in more detail, and ask you for some information about yourself to gain an understanding of what has brought you to seek professional support and what you would like to get out of it. You will have the opportunity to ask me any questions you have about my background, how I work and what to expect from therapy.
I won’t ask you to sign up for therapy at the initial consultation. Instead I will aim to provide you with all the information you need to take away and think about before coming to a decision. If you decide you would like to work with me, you can then contact me by e-mail to book your first session.
