About me and my therapy practice

Every person’s journey through therapy is unique. Some people come to therapy because they have specific issues that they want to address, others to find out more about themselves. Some people come because they have a sense that things are not ‘right’ and they want to find out why.

Therapy is a collaborative undertaking; at the core of this, is the relationship between therapist and client. I work to understand my clients and to help them understand themselves in a non-judgemental and open space. I have an LGBTQ+ affirmative approach and respect every individual's chosen identity as equal and valid.

My theoretical approach is Psychodynamic and I have a Postgraduate Diploma and Masters in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. I believe we have a rich unconscious world that exists just out of awareness and influences much of what we do. I work with clients to bring this into awareness; difficulties in current relationships can often be understood through recognising the influence of our internal ways of working, and the past.

I have additional postgraduate trainings in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Systemic Family Theory, Creative Communication, and Working Online. Whilst continuing to be fundamentally influenced by my psychodynamic training I adopt a cross-modality therapeutic approach integrating different therapy models to fit the unique needs of every individual I work with to facilitate deeper understanding of the self as a route to mental wellbeing.

I am a BACP and UKCP accredited Psychotherapist and a registered member of ACTO, the association for online therapists. I work with clients for short-term and long-term contracts, dependent on their needs. I practice face-to-face counselling in Brighton & Hove and work online using email, live chat, and video. I am also a qualified clinical supervisor.

About me and my therapy practice

Some people come to therapy because they have specific issues that they want to address, others to find out more about themselves. Some people come because they have a sense that things are not ‘right’ and want to find out why. Every person’s reasons and everyone’s journey through therapy is unique.

Therapy is a collaborative undertaking; at all times there is, at the core of this, the relationship between therapist and client. I work with clients to understand them and to help them understand themselves in a safe, non-judgemental, and open space. I practice LGBTQ+ affirmative psychotherapy and respect every individual's chosen identity as equal and valid.

I am a BACP and UKCP accredited Psychotherapist and a registered member of ACTO, the association for online therapists. My theoretical approach is broadly psychodynamic and informed by these principles. We have a rich unconscious world that exists just out of awareness and influences much of what we do. Sometimes  difficulties in current relationships can be understood through recognising the influence of our internal ways fo working, and the past. I work with clients to bring this into awareness, noticing patterns which seem to repeat, exploring how early relationships influence the here and now, the meaning of dreams, and tuning into emotions as information.

I have subsequent therapeutic trainings including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), systemic family theory, creative communication, and trauma. I use these tools to help clients to manage issues including anxiety, depression, phobias, body dysmorphic disorder, and anger.

I work with clients for short-term and long-term contracts, dependent on their needs. I practice face-to-face counselling in Brighton & Hove and work online using email, live chat, and video.

I am also a qualified clinical supervisor and have been supervising trainee and newly qualified counsellors for several years.
