About me and my therapy practice

My name is Caroline Crabtree and I am an experienced Registered Counsellor (therapist) specialising in email therapy. I am a member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

Working with adults I believe that, for a client's condition to improve, a therapist should be warm, genuine and understanding.

By offering email counselling session I believe that I can widen my accessibility to anyone who may have found face to face and online counselling inaccessible. Many of my clients have busy work and family lives. Maybe traditional sessions seem too restrictive in nature? Email counselling could be the answer to this. Barriers to therapy can be diminished in a non confrontational way - maybe you are neurodivergent and struggle with the pressure of social situations? Or maybe you are just very shy, anxious or feel that you'd struggle to maintain your privacy with conventional therapy.

As an email counsellor I can give you the space and time to work through your problems. I am trained to actively empathise and facilitate you to have a greater understanding of your experience. I am not here to offer advice but together we will work towards clarifying, processing and resolving your issues.

Changes in life and circumstance are inevitable. You may have experienced this in your own life; be that from a bereavement, a relationship break down with loved ones and friends, experienced a traumatic event, illness, moved location, or had a change in career. This can leave you with feelings that you can't cope. Do you feel as if you can't move on with life?

If this feels like it could be the right fit for you please pop along to my website for much more information. I look forward to hearing from you.

Practice description

Working online via email, in a person centred way, I am friendly and approachable. My aim is to make you feel at ease and develop a relationship with you where you feel you can discuss your concerns and problems in a non-judgemental space.

I work a flexible schedule of email sessions and I aim to work around your busy lifestyle to make the counselling sessions accessible and therefore reduce the waiting time you may experience within the health and social care sector.

I can help you work through a problem or issue without the need for a label or diagnosis. Our sessions are confidential (within the remit of the BACP Ethical Framework).

Ultimately this is YOUR choice, you are not being directed by the NHS, your place of work, or any other organisations to engage with me. We can work together without the pressure from others.

My first session

Your first session with me will be an introductory counselling email session. You will receive a guide and further emails to make sure you make the most of this session when booked. The guide will help you get started with your first email - giving you ideas on what to write if you need them. You are not committed to further sessions - once we've had our first full email session the decision to continue is completely up to you. I will also show you how to set up your secure email account and how the process works from start to finish.
