About me and my therapy practice
Living an enriching and fulfilling life is never a straight forward path. However, the very efforts and resources we commit in the hope of achieving this might inadvertently be driving us away from experiencing the joys of life.
The ability to look ‘inwardly’ and harness the immense resources within us can help us break the cycle of chasing this ‘mirage’ we call 'happiness'.
In collaboration with you, I am hoping to cultivate a better understanding of yourself in a way that will enable you to use your own ‘expertise’ to work through your challenges. As a result, we will be hoping to reach few understandings. Although you may not solve all your difficulties at the end of therapy, and indeed life will continue testing you, acquiring insight and mastery over how you relate to the world around you can help you engage with life in a more fulfilling way.
My ethos is in line with the following quote by Victor E. Frankl.
‘Everything can be taken away from a man/woman but one thing, the last of human freedom-, the freedom to choose one’s attitude, in any given set of circumstances, to chose one’s own way’.
We will focus on assessing your difficulties, understanding and prioritising your future therapy goals in our first few sessions. This will be followed by comprehensive focus on moment-to-moment in session awareness skills building. We will then use the resulting observation/knowledge to guide future sessions. Although there is no particular structure and no requirement for you to plan for the session, you will be required to bring the willingness to explore your own ways of being.
Once we agreed to work together, we will sign a brief written contract which can guide us and give a level of certainty as to what can be expected from both client and therapist.
