About me and my therapy practice
When we meet, I’ll do everything I can to help you to feel comfortable. It can be daunting to meet a therapist for the first time and it’s important to me that you feel safe throughout the counselling process.
We will begin by getting to know each other, which will help us to identify what approach is best for you. I’ll be there to support you as we learn more about your difficulties, together.
This will create a good grounding for us to start to explore the basis and roots of your challenges. I’ll bring into your awareness the feelings I sense you might be experiencing, patterns in your behaviour that I notice and anything else that I feel might be useful in helping you to find your solution.
I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, having trained at the Northern Guild for Psychotherapy and Counselling - one of the leading training institutes in the North East.
I will work with you from a relational perspective, paying close attention to the relationship that we build so I can establish what you need from our time together to reach your goals. My core training is in Transactional Analysis and I integrate this with other ideas and tools from the attachment, creative and humanistic approaches to therapy.
I enjoy working with people over a longer period to help them reach a place of lasting change and transformation and I allow for the process of therapy to develop at a natural pace. This means that the way we work will be individual to you, your story and the person you are.
I really look forward to meeting and welcoming you into a safe and comfortable space.
