About me and my therapy practice

I am qualified Integrative Trauma-Informed Counsellor, in private practice based in Gloucestershire. I am experienced in helping clients with anxiety, stress, depression, grief, abuse, trauma, and many other issues. Working with you, I aim to help you process difficult situations or feelings by offering a welcoming, safe and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feel heard and understood, develop a greater understanding of yourself and your issues, find patterns and make connections, form new perspectives, forge better relationships with yourself and others and work out new ways to deal with your problems to live a more fulfilling life. The work we do will be tailored to you individually as I recognise everyone’s counselling journey is unique.

Alongside, my private practice, I currently work for Gloucestershire Counselling Service providing time limited and open-ended counselling to individuals experiencing a wide range of personal issues.

Prior to private practice, I worked for Gloucestershire Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (GRASAC) and have trained in Understanding and Working with Sexual Violence (Accredited training with OCN). I am especially experienced in working with women, men and young girls aged 13-18, who have survived sexual violence or abuse both recent and historic, including childhood sexual abuse and help them empower themselves and move forward using the Trauma Informed Model. I have completed the CRUSE Bereavement Foundation Course and am experienced in working with bereavement and loss.

I am trained to help you understand the impact and effects of abuse and work with you to overcome the symptoms of trauma including panic attacks, flashbacks, PTSD and dissociation as needed. I will work with you to help you to identify any deep-rooted issues that you may or may not be aware of and how they might be impacting you today. Any changes you might make are of your own choosing.

Practice description

I currently provide therapy over the phone or online using Zoom video meaning you can fit therapy into your life wherever you have access to confidential space.

I work with adults, young people 16+ and older adults. Every person is unique, and I work in an integrative and holistic way using a combination of therapeutic approaches to support your specific needs and goals e.g. Person centred, Psychodynamic, Solution Based etc as well as with alternative therapies as needed. I offer a welcoming, confidential and safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings.

Counselling relationships are based on trust, respect and confidentiality. The aim of our work together is to offer you the space, and time to talk about any emotional distress, difficult situations or feelings you are experiencing by listening carefully, in a non-judgmental way, so you can begin to see these difficulties from your point of view. I will respect and accept your feelings and help you to understand them, so that you may begin to see things more clearly. Relationships lie at the heart of all my work and form the foundation of my approach.

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) providing confidentiality in a warm, accepting therapeutic relationship.

Our work together is completely confidential and supervised, and I adhere to the values, morals and code of ethics of the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions

My first session

In our first session, we will discuss what brought you to therapy. Together we will explore your expectations of therapy and how best I can assist you. You may wish to talk about something in your session that is currently happening in your life, your relationships, work, feelings, or dreams. Sessions are yours to explore whatever emerges. The process may find links to your past that illuminate your present. Therapy is a space where you come to understand yourself better.

If you would like to explore how counselling can help you, call or email me for an initial free no obligation 20-minute telephone call to discuss issues or concerns that you might wish to address in therapy and to help decide if I am the right counsellor for you. This also provides an opportunity for you to ask any questions or concerns that you may have. It is important that you feel safe and comfortable with your therapist, and this provides an opportunity for you to decide if working together is the right next step. At the end of this free consultation, if you wish to proceed, we will set a day and a time and agree a weekly contact.

I offer one-to-one regular 50 minute counselling sessions for adults and young people over 16 that are usually at the same time and day every week. Depending on the needs of each individual, I see people on a open-ended or time limited basis, with regular reviews of how you and I feel the work is going to ensure we are addressing the most important issues for you.

I offer counselling sessions via Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Skype video call as well as telephone counselling.

Fees – Currently the fee is £45 per session. The counselling fee is subject to review every year. I offer limited reduced rate sessions for those experiencing financial hardships.

Healing from trauma and taking care of our mental health is an ongoing process, and I’d love the opportunity to be a part of your journey.
