About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified counsellor with over 25 years' experience and as your counsellor I will be committed to working with you in an emotionally supportive and confidential way. Going through a difficult, painful or stressful time often feels very lonely and overwhelming. Talking to someone who is not involved can really help at a time like this; someone who is a skilled listener, who is empathic, warm and respectful and who does not judge or have an agenda. This can free us up to express our thoughts and feelings, see our situation more clearly, understand ourselves better and discover what solutions work for us. My approach is rooted in humanistic, person-centred philosophy and integrates a range of approaches such as solution-focused, existential and cognitive behavioural therapy. In particular my work is underpinned by the values and skills of Motivational Interviewing (MI), a strengths-based, highly respectful approach aimed at helping people make positive changes in their lives. This integrated approach allows me to respond to each person's particular situation in a flexible and useful way. If you are going through a challenging time, I want to help.
COVID 19 Update : I am currently offering sessions via video (Zoom) and phone (Whatsapp audio) until it is safe to return to face-to-face work at my office in Canton, Cardiff.
I work Monday to Friday and aim to respond to enquiries as soon as possible.
