About me and my therapy practice

It may be an event in your life, either present or past, it may be a thought or feeling, or a niggle that you need to deal with, but by being here, you have made a start. As my client, you will be the focus of the sessions, dealing with what you want to deal with.

As your counsellor I will be non-judgmental and supportive, since the aim is to help you develop an insight into your own issues. A counsellor does this by helping a client draw on their own resources to enable them to approach their life in a fresh way.

During the course of the counselling sessions you will be able to reassess your own 'coping skills' and learn more effective ways to deal with issues.

I am a qualified Person Centred (Humanistic) Counsellor, a certified online counsellor and have a degree in Philosophy and Sociology.

Practice description

Counselling uses very human skills - like knowing how and when to ask the right questions - which the counsellor has developed through training and experience. Counselling involves the helping skills of caring, listening and prompting. It is based on talking and the respectful, trusting relationship that builds up between the client and the counsellor.

The progression through counselling can be difficult for some people, and as your counsellor it will be my role to provide a safe and supportive environment to enable you to put together the different pieces of the jigsaw of your life together. One very important aspect of a safe environment is confidentiality.

What takes place between a counsellor and their client is treated in confidence this will be discussed with you further at your initial session. Please note that I shall be working towards an agreed set of professional ethics during your sessions.

Your first session is offered free of charge. This allows us a chance to gain an initial insight into your primary areas of concern. It also enables us to ensure that we both feel we can work together in a positive way.
