About me and my therapy practice

Hello, and welcome. I am Francesca, a well-qualified, experienced and professional psychotherapist supporting individuals to work through feelings of anxiety, depression, relationship problems, anger, grief and loss. Since you are reading this page, I imagine you would like some aspects of your life to be different and wondering if I - or therapy - can help you. We come to therapy for a myriad of reasons, perhaps you struggling to like yourself or coming to terms with a trauma or loss and looking to process your experience and see a way forward. Maybe you are struggling with overwhelming feelings of anxiety or depression.

I run Talk for Change Therapy from welcoming premises in Princes Risborough, and High Wycombe supporting adults, and young people from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of issues. I work as a humanistic integrative psychotherapist and believe that you are the best person to know what you need to live well and work to support you to determine this. I have supported clients with presenting issues including depression, anxiety, loss and grief, childhood trauma, sexual violence, chronic pain, and domestic violence. I have worked with adults and children with autistic spectrum disorders, and A.D.H.D.

I am passionate about improving the mental health and well being of my clients. Research evidences that for many people with common mental health problems, talking therapies are proven to be as effective as medicines. They create long-lasting positive changes so you not only feel better but stay better.

Through psychotherapy I listen without judgement and confidentially to whatever you decide to bring. I support you to make sense of yourself and your experiences and, together with your thoughts and emotions, explore options and choices for changes you may want. I will greet you with empathy, congruence and compassion for your journey.

Practice description

Young People

In my private practice I have supported young people to work through feelings of anxiety and depression, understanding the role of coping strategies in response to overwhelming pressure and stress.   I work non-directively and creatively with whatever the young person brings to the session.  I have worked with students who face particular challenges in their chosen career paths and who have specific difficulties such as ADHD and Autism.

My work in Further Education as a lecturer has informed my work with young people and I believe in the positive benefits of psycho-education to support young people to understand themselves in the context of their lived experiences.  Psycho-education encourages self-compassion and reduces feelings of shame.

In my counselling work I have supported adults to work through issues such as anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, health challenges, relationship breakdown and divorce, sexuality and gender, and work  related difficulties.  I will offer you empathy, a non-judgmental approach and will respect your confidentiality.

I have worked for several years for a charity supporting survivors of sexual abuse, and use a three stage trauma model to support recovery.

My practice is based in Princes Risborough with parking nearby, and in central High Wycombe at the Castle Street Clinic HP13 6RU.

My first session

What happens when you get in touch?

The first step is to contact me via email or telephone.  Please leave a message if you call and I do not answer immediately, it is likely I will be working and I will endeavor to return your call within 24 hours Monday to Friday.

We can then arrange a mutually convenient time to connect via telephone for a free 20-30 minute consultation and we can consider if we can work together going forward.
