About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Gill and I am a experienced and accredited Counsellor and Supervisor who has worked for over 20 years with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. I offer face to face ,video and telephone counselling and Supervision.
People come to therapy for many different reasons but for everyone it provides an opportunity to look at things in their life and to find more satisfying and helpful ways of living .My job as a therapist is to help you understand what it is you want from counselling and the best way I can work with you to help you take those steps. I offer a private, confidential and ethical service where you and your experiences will be respected, listened to and supported.
My practice is rooted in humanistic ,relational ways of working but I use a range of approaches that will best suit your needs. I have extensive experience working in hospices and within the NHS and therefore I have particular expertise in working with bereavement and loss and grief in all its forms. I have also specialised in working with trauma and anxiety. I also work on an independent basis with Employee Assistance programmes and I therefore have a lot of experience working in short term ways with people struggling with a range of work related issues and anxiety.
I have over 25 years experience as a trainer and lecturer in Further and Higher education, including managing and teaching on Diploma and B.A. in Counselling courses .I am a fully qualified, experienced and accredited member of the British Association For Counsellors and Psychotherapists and work within their ethical framework. My private practice is well established with links with Employment Assistant Programmes and Occupational Health Schemes. As a counsellor I aim to provide space, understanding, support and strategies to help you find the positive ways forward that are right for you.
Practice description
My approach to therapy is flexible and personalised as different people are helped in different ways.My practice is rooted in ways of working which believe that the quality of the relationship between myself and my client is a key factor in helping you make make the best use of your experience and understanding and in helping you develop the internal resources to move forward.I try to be flexible however in responding to what you need from therapy and in working in ways which are right for you. I may draw on a range of models and approaches from my training which may also help you in changing your behaviour or in understanding the feelings, relationships and the issues you are experiencing . My fee is £50 for a session. At the moment I also offer telephone and video counselling . Please telephone me to ask any questions, talk to me and informally discuss your needs.
My first session
