About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am Kate, an experienced Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Therapeutic Counselling. I am also an Advanced International Practictioner of EFTi, and an Identity-oriented Psychotrauma Therapist (IoPT) working with people from many countries for this specialism.
I am easy and open to anything you may need to bring holding my work within the ethics and code of the BACP. I offer a clear contract to be negotiated when we first meet to help you feel held and safe. The work is client-led and respectful giving you the opportunity to be seen and heard in a confidential online space.
I am particularly interested in helping you find a healthier relationship to yourself, your partner and family, your body and health, your eating, your sexuality, your work & money and your direction in life. I am specialised in embodied emotional trauma (often transgenerational) with ten years experience in IOPT.
If you are going through a major life-change whether it's leaving home, having a family, divorce, redundancy, life-threatening illness, disability, bereavement, retirement or migration and loss of home and country, I can help with that loss of identity and all the accompanying emotions you may be struggling with.
I have worked in low-cost counselling centres, a school and an NHS surgery but am now in private practice. I also run online and in situ workshops on IOPT and Personal Development.
I work in an intuitive way integrating psychosynthesis, the body-centred resonance process of IOPT and EFT to help you to see and experience the parts of yourself that influence how you are feeling and how you are triggered in relationship to others.
First it's a good idea to have a free half-hour meeting to see if we can work together.
If it feels right for you, we can set up the first session where you tell me more about why you have come, what you expect the counselling to be like and what you would like to get from it.
You may decide to work weekly for a period of 2 months and then review. You can tell me what you are hoping to get from the experience.
I will certainly be giving you tools and techniques to help you get to know yourself more, help with stress and anxiety or destructive thought patterns and which you can coninue to use long after the therapy is over.
If this sounds good, e-mail me as first point of contact.
My first session
You can have a free first half-hour meeting online.
If you are happy to go ahead, then we can set up our first session.
At the first session you can tell me more about yourself as information that helps guide me to what may be helpful to work on.
However, the sessions are client-led to give you agency over your own process. At no time do I consider myself the specialist: you are the specialist of yourself! You may just need my therapeutic experience to help you resolve your presenting issues. and find out more about yourself as you do so.
