About me and my therapy practice
My approach
I recognise how difficult it can be for people to face and talk about their experiences, as well as the importance of hope and self- acceptance. I have respect the diverse experience and needs of people who come to therapy; I have found each person has gained from the experience and has been able to benefit in their lives.
Counselling is a way of helping people who are often distressed or affected by their experiences; it can help the person live with these difficulties. As you begin to reflect, and develop a dialogue, you may develop insight, self-understanding and compassion. This can begin to effect the changes you seek.
I believe that we all have the potential to enhance our lives and develop our potential, through understanding. Counselling offers the opportunity to change.
My theoretical understanding is drawn from attachment, humanistic and relational perspectives which I use in relation to your experience. I recognise the impact of traumatic experience from the past. I might explore with you how your patterns and past relationships may have shaped your experience in the present, or focus on the here and now. I recognise the important role of cultural, spiritual experience and beliefs .I value the individual’s search for meaning.
