About me and my therapy practice
Hello. I'm Sam. I offer a warm, safe welcoming counselling space for you to explore your feelings and thoughts.
It's not always easy to sort through the tangle of thoughts, or to understand what it is that you feel. I'm here to help you to do that. Counselling is about taking care of yourself and your wellbeing. It's about making time for you. That's important in this busy, hectic life that we lead.
I am an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist which means I work with you in a way that will best suit your requirements.
I believe that building a safe, trusting relationship together is crucial for therapy. I bring a caring, empathic, non judgemental attitude to the relationship. In this way you can begin to trust and share with me your thoughts and feelings.
We work together on your issues; you are the expert on you and I will do my best to understand and help you to move forward by providing you with tools to enhance your well-being.
I use a range of techniques: integrating attachment therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, mindfulness and a person centred approach.
My first session
In our first session together we will have a chat about what brings you to counselling. Together, we can talk about any therapy goals that you have so that we may work towards these. They may change over time and I will offer goal reviews along the way.
Most importantly here is that you take the lead. I work with you however best suits you. I offer a space where you can offload and sometimes this sharing is incredibly healing in itself.
I will provide you with an overview of how we can work together over the coming weeks, as well as discussing your expectations of our therapy sessions together.
I am flexible in what I offer. Some people feel that they would like counselling each week and others feel that every two weeks is fine. We can discuss what will best suit your needs.
