I am available for  client work  on Monday morning/afternoon and Thursday afternoon/evening. I offer face to face sessions as well as online and telephone counselling.

Video counselling such as Zoom or facetime and telephone counselling can be a safe and confidential option with many benefits.

About me and my therapy practice

If you are seeking Couple or Relationship therapy I am 'Relate' trained and as such I have considerable experience of working with relationships. This includes couple issues such as communication problems, affairs and sexual issues as well as family issues where there are communication difficulties and relationship breakdown. Relational work is equally valid for individual clients seeking to understand difficult behaviour patterns and complex feelings.

I offer a free telephone call to any client to discuss their situation before booking a session. The Initial session is then an opportunity to meet and decide whether counselling is the best way to meet your needs.

In couple or family work work  initial session is an opportunity for each person to speak and to be listened to so we can work out a way forward based on your needs. I welcome couples from traditional or same sex relationships.

I had an integrative training that involves the core principles of non judgement, listening and empathy. Key theories that I work with include Psychodynamic and Systemic theory and practice. Psychodynamic therapy helps you to consider how the past may have shaped your current experience and looks at the role of your unconscious mind. Systemic Family Therapy looks for patterns of connections made within our culture and family system and creates a safe space to explore this. I am also a qualified hypnotherapist and am able to use relaxation techniques to the benefit of clients.

Practice description

I specialise in relationship issues with yourself and your past, or your partner, family, children, friends or work issues. Having the space to consider what your needs are and what is important may help you to move towards the future that you want.

Many couples can feel stuck in their relationship  and  keep having the same arguments over again. Relationship therapy offers a safe space to work through difficulties and make the changes needed to create a more harmonious life. Gaining understanding of underlying behaviour patterns can help unlock unhelpful behaviour and create new ways of relating. Where there have been betrayals of trust or sexual issues, relationship therapy allows you the space to speak and to be heard and rebuild trust.

Relationship therapy can also be helpful if one or both of you feels a relationship is not working, relationship work is about each person having the space to express their needs and wants  safely.

I work with a range of personal and relationship issues that include anxiety, depression, sadness and bereavement, panic attacks, low self-esteem, stress, and relationship issues.

Counselling can be both short or long term. Many people find six sessions is enough to get their relationship back on track, whereas others may wish to explore a bit further. I offer regular reviews along the way to establish that you are getting what you need from the work. Taking the first step towards making real change in your life could be talking things through with a qualified relationship therapist.

My first session

The first meeting is an assessment session to discuss your needs and plan a way forward, and I offer this at half fee. There will be  an opportunity for you to ask questions about me and the service I offer and you are under no obligation to continue.

Sessions can be face to face or by video call or telephone. Relationship therapy is usually delivered  weekly or fortnightly as this keeps a clear focus on the work however if your circumstances are complicated please feel free to discuss this.

There are many kinds of counselling and psychotherapy and if I consider I am not the best fit for you I will support and signpost you to other services. I offer both short and longer term counselling, and do regular reviews along the way.
