About me and my therapy practice

Hello and thank you for visiting my page.

Please note that I will be taking a one-week break from clinical practice from April 8th - 15th, and I will reply to your inquiry on my return.

No matter what stage of life you are in, finding the right person and taking those first steps may feel quite daunting, especially if you’re struggling with anxiety, trauma, and a deep sense of threat, or if you’re in the midst of a bereavement or relationship breakdown. Confusing emotions may be evoked, you may be finding unhelpful ways to deal with stress, or you might not even really know what's causing you to feel a sense of loss, but whatever has prompted you to seek therapy, I can offer a confidential comfortable space to be truly listened to, by someone empathetic and non-judgmental.

Not only will we think about your current issues, but we'll look at what lies rooted in the past and how you cope today. By making sense of your experiences, a deeper level of awareness and self-acceptance can be found, bringing more meaning to your life.

Practice description

I hold a postgraduate diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and as a certified Trauma-Informed Therapist at level 6, I can provide support with PTSD & CPTSD symptoms and help you be 'here' instead of 'there', and with thousands of clinical hours in private practice and volunteering within the charitable sector, I have gained valuable experience counselling individuals from 18+.

My knowledge and skills have developed throughout my work in private practice, and I believe there is always something new to learn, whether that be conversations about race, working with trauma, neurodiversity, gender, sexuality, identity, and otherness, the list goes on, so I make a regular commitment to continual professional development to be fully trained, inclusive, and well informed.

I am also trained in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). Gently tapping on the correct pressure points can help tune into these uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, troubling memories, and phobias, where healing and relief can be found, and anxiety can lessen.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice, and the BACP’s Online and Phone Therapy (OPT) competence framework. I hold full professional indemnity and public liability insurance and have an up-to-date DBS certificate.

I currently run a busy clinical practice while continuing to develop my awareness, and before working as a Counsellor, my background was in the education sector working mainly in secondary school settings.

My first session

There are more questions in the first and second sessions as this allows us to gain a deeper understanding of your current and historic experiences and relationships, and what has brought you to therapy, while paying close attention to how comfortable you feel.

I offer a free 30-minute telephone or online conversation to discuss your needs, and meeting for a 50-minute initial consultation will also allow you time to decide if you feel comfortable enough to continue with weekly sessions. Once agreed, we will meet on the same day, at the same time, and go at a pace that's right for you.

I have a dedicated downstairs room with a separate entrance with one small step over the threshold. There is a toilet but unfortunately, this cannot be accessed via a wheelchair.

I am happy to answer any questions via phone or email and if you leave a message, I will respond once I become available and within working hours.
