About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, providing both online and in-person counselling to young people aged 5-25.  I am based in Oundle where I am able to offer short or long term work specifically tailored to the young person.

I have a long history of specialised work with young people, having worked as both a therapeutic mentor, therapist and counsellor in primary and secondary schools.  I am currently School Counsellor in an independent boarding school.  I have previously worked as an advisor in a young person's sexual health charity and in young offenders' rehabilitation.

Practice description

As an integrative practitioner, I tailor my approach to the young person, according to their age, ability and interest.  My practice is person-centred at heart, and I use creative arts and play-based therapies to enhance and deepen the work with the young person, as well as cognitive behavioural techniques, solution-focused, positive therapy and psycho-education.  I hold a certificate in life coaching, and can work as a coach or mentor if this approach is favoured.

I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for a young person to explore their thoughts, feelings, memories, behaviours and relationships, to express themselves and to be heard.  I believe that it is through the client/counsellor relationship that healing or progress is able to be made.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity to discuss what counselling is, and how it may help, and to express what the aims of the therapy may be.  It is a chance for us to get to know one another, and for you to ask any questions you may have, as well as to assess the suitability of counselling or coaching.  We can discuss regularity of sessions, what kind of approach you may favour, and boundaries of therapy.

Sessions are 50 minutes long and are £50 for in-person counselling, £45 for online.  Concessions are available.
