About me and my therapy practice
Please note: Following government advice regarding keeping safe during COVID-19 - for the time being, I have suspended all face to face sessions and will now be offering online or telephone sessions.
Hello, welcome to my profile. I am a qualified counsellor and was awarded an MSc in Counselling Psychology by Keele University in 2016.
Contacting a counsellor can be a difficult step to take; if you are ready to make that change I can offer you a calm and safe space to talk through your thoughts, feelings and experiences. You will be listened to and supported. I won’t judge you or tell you what to do. My role is to work with you at whatever pace you set.
Being in counselling can feel like a relief as you get to unload. At other times, as you explore painful feelings, it can feel difficult and requires hard work to stick at; sometimes you may even feel both. Either way, counselling can help. Together we can find ways forward that work for you.
Please do contact me to book a session or to talk through any questions or concerns about starting counselling you may have.
Everyone is different and I will not make assumptions about you or what you are experiencing. I can offer you a calm and safe space to talk through your thoughts, feelings and experiences. I will listen to you with empathy and without judgement. I rarely offer advice, instead I will work with you to help you figure out what would work best for you. You are the expert on yourself and know yourself best. My role is to work with you and give you the space to find your own solutions and ways forward.
You don't need to go through this alone. Contact me and we can have a chat about how counselling can help.
My first session
Starting counselling can feel like big step and sometimes it can help to know what to expect from the first session.
The first time we meet can be used to get to know each other a little better and to find out if we are both comfortable working together. We can use this time to decide if I am the right counsellor for you.
We will go over a counselling agreement which outlines what we can expect from each other and the practical details of counselling including confidentiality and cancellations.
I like to learn a bit about you and what led you to counselling. This is so that I can start to get an understanding of what you want or need from counselling.
Together we can decide what you would like to focus on and how many (if any) more sessions you would like. At no point are you under any obligation to arrange more sessions.
